Dear Colleagues,
Greetings from Medanta - Medicity, Gurgaon!
It is our pleasure to announce the Seventh kidney Transplant Update - A Practical approach to be held at, Aerocity, Delhi on 12th - 13th March 2022.
The Transplant update was started in year 2014 with a vision to provide a platform to discuss about problems encountered in routine clinical practice by transplant physicians. To address and discuss these issues, we invite the leading experts from the field of Transplantation from across the world and India, which keeps us updated about newer advances and also provide an opportunity to discuss, as how we can apply them to improve our practise.
We are thankful to all the delegates and faculty, whose active participation has made it a meeting a success and it is keenly awaited by Nephrologists across the country. Last year we conducted this meeting on a virtual platform, which was attended and appreciated by approximately 400 Nephrologists across the country.
Dear Friends, COVID numbers are fortunately less at present in India, however still there is lot of uncertainty among rise of Omicron and nobody can predict the future. Another aspect of COVID have been the fatigue from virtual meetings, so this time we have decided to keep this meeting on hybrid mode.
The theme of this year is `Cardiac and Metabolic issues in Kidney Transplantation`. As you are aware that cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of mortality after kidney transplantation, yet there little awareness about how to screen and manage it pre and post-transplantation. Diabetes is the leading cause of ESKD in our country and responsible for poor outcome after transplantation and yet it is poorly controlled after transplant in majority. Similarly there is little attention to manage dyslipidemia and obesity after kidney transplant. Bone disease after Kidney transplant is another problem, which is frequently neglected and later on lead to fractures and poor quality of life in many. To address and discuss these topics, this year we have invited renowned faculty from Department of Transplantation Endocrinology and Cardiology, Mayo Clinic Rochester; Dr Pankaj Shah, Dr Robert Wermers and Dr Vinay Sinha who are experts in the field of diabetes, CKD-MBD and lipid disorders. Each of them have published high quality papers in their field and have vast experience in managing transplant endocrine diseases.
Our format as always will be a mix of high end talks and case based discussion mostly, as it provides an approach towards problem solving. We invite you to send your interesting cases about difficult cases related to cardiac, diabetes, and bone diseases peri or post-transplantation, which have a message and useful for others in their day today practice. You can send your cases at www.transplantupdate.com or drshyambansal@gmail.com.
The meeting would start post-lunch at 02.00 pm on Saturday 12th March and would conclude by 02.00 pm after lunch on 13th March Sunday.
Hope to see you at meeting.
Best Regards
